The Global Evidence Synthesis Initiative (GESI,,, aims to support Low- & Middle Income Countries (LMICs) in building their capacity to synthesize evidence needed to support their own practice and policy decision-making. To reach that aim, GESI plans to launch Systematic Review Centers in LMICs and build capacity in Evidence Synthesis in these centers.

The GESI Secretariat is hosted by the Center for Systematic Reviews on Health Policy and Systems Research (SPARK, at the American University of Beirut. The Secretariat is seeking to recruit a Research Assistant, to provide technical and administrative support to the Secretariat Coordinator in achieving the above aim.

A.Basic Function

The full-time administrative assistant will support the activities of the GESI Secretariat by arranging for and following up on administrative, financial and technical matters related to all planned and ongoing projects to ensure their successful and timely completion, in addition to potential research related activities.

B.Specific tasks

  • Provide administrative, financial and research support.
  • Provide general administrative support for the timely delivery of reports.
  • Organize meetings (virtual and face-to-face).
  • Take minutes of meetings.
  • Assist in following-up with the Office for Grants and Contracts (OGC) on the financial matters.
  • Assist in developing documents such as proposals and progress reports.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of activities within the Secretariat.
  • Support organization and delivery of conferences, workshops and trainings.
  • Assist on building and maintaining different social media platforms.
  • Prepare monthly progress reports for the Secretariat’s records.
  • Communication and follow-up with centers on projects.


There will be opportunities to participate in research related activities.


  • A Bachelor in Sciences or Bachelor of Arts.
  • Working proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Previous experience as administrative or research assistant is a plus.
