  Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut is a teaching-centered research university based on the American liberal arts model of higher education. AUB has over 8,000 students and 800 faculty members. Hisham Izzat Jaroudi

An alumni trustee since 2015, Hisham Izzat Jaroudi (BAR ’66) is an architect, engineer, and developer whose large scale residential, commercial, and public projects can be found throughout the Middle East. A distinguished philanthropist and longtime donor to AUB, Jaroudi has made substantial contributions to the Bechtel Engineering building, the Rafic Hariri School of Nursing buildng, the Auxiliary Services building, and the AUBMC Hisham Jaroudi Lobby. His is the founder of the Izzat Jaroudi Foundation and the Beirut Heritage Foundation; president of the Sporting Club of Beirut since 1990; founding member of the Zakat Fund, former member and treasurer of the Al Makassid Foundation, and recipient of the Lebanese Order of Merit at the rank of Knight.
