Civil and Environmental Engineering
  • Civil and Environmental Engineering is the field concerned with planning, design, construction, and management of projects. It is the continuation and technical incarnation of one of the most ancient human skills, that of building and shaping the world.

Welcome to the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering where you will learn about the planning, design, construction, and management phases of projects. Our field of study is the continuation and technical incarnation of one of the most ancient human skills, that of building and reshaping the world.

The world of civil & environmental engineering is vibrant, forward-looking, and constantly evolving. The profession has changed as the challenges thrown at it have increased in complexity. Today's civil engineers have to build higher, stronger, cheaper, in more complex conditions, while meeting more stringent criteria of safety against natural hazards and environmental concerns. They have to provide better quality of life, for more people, under more restrictive constraints than ever before. Civil engineers are at the helm of projects that provide housing, clean water, and energy to a more and more demanding world.

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) offers undergraduate programs leading to the degree of Bachelor of Engineering (BE), major in Civil and Environmental Engineering and the degree of Bachelor of Science (BS) major in Construction Engineering. The BE Program in Civil and Environmental Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, Inc., the recognized accreditor of college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and technology.

The department also offers graduate programs of Master and PHD: two masters programs leading to the degree of Master of Engineering (ME) with majors in Civil Engineering (CE) and in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering (EWRE), as well as two doctorate programs leading to the degree of PhD with majors in Civil Engineering (CE) or Environmental and Water Resources Engineering (EWRE).

In addition to this, the department is involved in the Interfaculty Graduate Environmental Sciences Program (IGESP) and offers a Master of Science (MS) degree with major in Environmental Technology (ET). The program is open to non-engineering students who hold a degree in basic sciences.
